X sues media watchdog over ‘fraudulent attack’ alleging content next to Nazism


Messaging platform X on Monday sued media watchdog workforce Media Matters, alleging the organisation defamed the platform after it printed a document that mentioned commercials for main manufacturers had seemed next to posts touting Nazism.

X, previously Twitter, has confronted rising outrage since Media Matters printed the document on Thursday, which led IBM, Comcast and several other different advertisers to pull commercials from the platform in reaction.

On Saturday, Musk posted that X would report a “thermonuclear” lawsuit in opposition to Media Matters and others “who colluded in this fraudulent attack on our company.”

Since Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022, a circulation of advertisers have fled the platform, cautious of a few of Musk’s debatable posts and layoffs of staff who labored to reasonable content.

X Chief Executive Linda Yaccarino informed staff in a notice on Sunday that whilst some advertisers had paused their investments following the document’s newsletter, the corporate were transparent about its efforts to combat antisemitism and discrimination.

In an interview with Reuters previous on Monday, Media Matters President Angelo Carusone mentioned the nonprofit’s findings flew within the face of X’s statements that it had presented protection protections to save you commercials from showing next to destructive content.

“If you search for white nationalist content, there are ads flourishing. The system they say exists is not operating as such,” he mentioned.
